Minimalist Home Decor

Here are a few tips on how to get the minimalist home decor look

Minimalist home decor can give you a very sophisticated, uncluttered and stylish feel to your space. Make your home shine, without changing too much around – just add, subtract and make little adjustments to enhance the overall appeal of a particular space. Minimalism goes beyond “less is more”. Organization and lack of clutter are the first steps to having a minimalist home decor look. Start by adding character to your space, eliminate all the little  decorative pieces and add big art pieces. A strong focal point makes your living space rich and stylish.

Plants

Houseplants are a great way to bring a positive vibe and combining them with natural light gives your home a warm and cosy feel. Plants come in all shapes and sizes, so be creative but do not go overboard with the colors, and always prefer quality over quantity.

Lighting

Minimalism is all about balance, and it can transform your living space when you are able to combine natural and artificial light. Finding the right relationship between light and your space is key regarding a minimalist interior design.

Less is more

First step is to understand that every item in a room should have a purpose or solve a problem. An empty space should be celebrated and it’s important to clean your clutter and not add extra decor elements. Focus on clean lines, as it creates a simpler and less complicated visual impact. Simple objects, wall art with small details and splashes of color, are some accents to consider. To make a certain element stand out or to make it more visually appealing, take into account that an empty space will make that element become your focal point and give your home a sense of calm.

Monochrome & Patterns

Try to use the same color palette and choose a single color to give a cool unique effect. Monochrome makes it less stressful than coming up with an entire design process and color scheme. Consider adding symmetrical patterns to your monochrome scheme, as they will not be too overpowering and will give you space a stylish feel. However, do not mix too many patterns or they will make your home feel too busy.
