Tips on how to choose the best frame for your art
It is easy to fall in love with a piece of art and there’s no doubt that if well placed it has the potential to transform and improve your living space in more ways than one. Choosing the perfect frame can help bring out small details in the photo as well as complementing and completing your artwork and the overall look of your space. So if you don’t know where to begin when it comes to choosing a frame here are a few tips on how to choose the best one for you, your art and your home.
To maximize a piece of art getting the light right is a must. Either by a well lit room or with some spotlights around the artwork which would enhance the overall look your piece and of course your space.
Gallery Wall
If you are creating a gallery wall bear in mind that it is important to tie the images together to give a more cohesive look by choosing the same colored frames, images and mats. And also with different sized frames.
Usually the smaller the art piece, the larger the mat and vice versa. Over sized mats are quite popular and can make a small artwork very classy with a great impact. Artwork that are to be hung in groups are better of minimal or no matting.
Black and white photos usually go in a black or white frame. When choosing a colored frame try complementing both your home décor and the photograph. Don’t go for the most obvious color in the photo, or you will lose the color of the frame. To complement the image better try choosing one of the less dominant colors in the artwork and the frame will help bring it out.
Pay attention to details. Ensure that the corners of the frame are at a 90 degree angle, and the artwork on the mat board doesn’t touch the glass.

Details, it’s all in the details!
The color from your artwork is so important. Focus on the details and try to bring them out by choosing the same color frame and mat. It will give a stunning image a very elegant touch.
Back to black.
Add a black frame to a black and white photo, you cant go wrong. It will give a classy and minimal look to any room.
Emphasize.
Determine what is the focal point of your art and bring it out with the same colored frame.
Off white.
The roughness from the waves can be calmed by the off white mat. When paired with a simple, thin white frame the mat will be the standout element.
